How to practise double letters

Use two deliberate taps for a double letter. The aim is a relaxed repeated movement, not a heavy press. Read the spelling first because a familiar word can make your hands skip its repeated character. The samples mix several pairs instead of repeating one key for an entire run.

What to check after a run

Review whether a double became a single or a triple. Slow only the repeated movement, then connect it smoothly to the next letter.

1. Find the pattern

2. Connect the movement

The little yellow balloon floated above the narrow wall. A happy rabbit sat still while the summer breeze moved the grass beside the cottage.

3. Apply it in context

Ellis collected the labelled folders and carried a small notebook to the coffee table. The written address appeared twice on the sample sheet. Before copying the next sentence, check the double letters in collected, labelled, coffee and address rather than relying on the general shape of each word.
