Type the displayed passage in order. Backspace corrects the last character. Paste is disabled. Escape pauses. Control or Command plus Enter restarts. Leaving the input pauses the timer.
How to practise html typing
Look for the tag name before typing its brackets. A closing tag adds a slash, and an attribute pairs a name with a quoted value. This drill does not teach a complete HTML document or test browser rendering. Whitespace is normalised, so copy the characters without trying to reproduce indentation.
What to check after a run
Check closing tags against their opening names. Preserve lower-case attributes and the quotes around their values.

1. Find the pattern
<h2>Sample heading</h2> <p>A short caption beside a paper map.</p> <button type="button">Preview sample</button>
2. Connect the movement
<section class="example"> <h3>Draft library</h3> <p>Choose a paper card to compare.</p> <a href="/practice">Back to practice</a> </section>
3. Apply it in context
<article aria-labelledby="card-title"> <h2 id="card-title">Blue draft</h2> <ul><li>Wide margin</li><li>Short caption</li></ul> <p>This is inert typing practice, not an active page template.</p> </article>
