Type the displayed passage in order. Backspace corrects the last character. Paste is disabled. Escape pauses. Control or Command plus Enter restarts. Leaving the input pauses the timer.
How to practise plural endings
Keep reading until the word boundary. A sentence can suggest a plural, but the target spelling is what matters in a transcription task. The exercise includes different forms rather than teaching one universal plural rule. Do not add an apostrophe merely because a word ends in s.
What to check after a run
Review whether the mistake was a missing ending or a changed internal letter. Compare box with boxes and story with stories as separate full words.

Preview the exact targets before choosing a run. Counts include spaces and punctuation after whitespace normalisation.
1. Find the pattern
card cards box boxes page pages story stories shelf shelves brush brushes tray trays
2. Connect the movement
One box holds six brushes. Two shelves hold the folded maps. A single story appears on the first page, while the other pages contain short stories and captions.
3. Apply it in context
The sample display has three trays, four boxes and several loose sheets. Each shelf carries a label, and the labels use matching headings. Copy singular and plural nouns as shown rather than allowing the surrounding count to make you skip or invent the final letters.
